Longitudinal stress in unrestrained pipe (B31.8)

Longitudinal stress in unrestrained pipe (B31.8) - 11/05/07 11:18 AM

I verified unrestrained pipe ( Pipeline on the racks) by the Caesar II.
The result values are compare with 0.9 SYM. When in par.833.6 ASME B31.8 the result values must be compare with 0.75 SIM. Is it correct my interpretation of code?

If the pipe is unrestrained then the allowable for SUS or OCC is .75ST. The allowable for the EXP case is f[1.25(Sc+Sh)-Sl]. If the pipe is restrained then the allowable for OPE, SUS, OCC are 0.9ST and no EXP code stress is compared. You have to check the radio button in the allowable stress area so that Caesar II knows if it should apply the restrained or unrestrained criteria.
