Hanger design - 04/23/07 06:15 AM

Hello,

I am new in using Caesar and I have a question regarding hangers.
How do I get Caesar to design me a sutible hanger?

There is nothing in Hanger report, under FIG. NO. there is ''USER'', and under hot load there is''10''. Every thing elese is blank. How do I make it work so it would define me a hanger?

Best Regards

All you have to do is check the "checkbox" on the appropriate spreadsheet (for hangers) and then specifiy the node at which you want the hanger. Let everything else on the auxiliary dialog default - don't add or change any data until (perhaps) after the first run.

I hope I understand this, but I've exported hangers from Cadworx drawing, and all the hangers already have defined nodes and are checked in piping input. Input list is also filled with required data, except HGR CNODE which I don’t know what it is. Did you mean any other spreadsheet? If so where do I find it?

By the way it’s Caesar 4.4, from my boss smile (old)

Sorry if questions are basic, I am learning...

This should work fine. Just send the input (_A) file to:
techsupport@coade.com

It will be faster if we just take a look at it, instead of playing "20 questions".

Ok, just one more thing, in Static output processor, field ''load cases analysed'' there is 1 (HGR) CASE NOT ACTIVE. Is this wrong?

No it is not wrong. The first two cases listed in a spring design run are used internally by Caesar to define spring loads and travels.

By default there should be two HGR cases "typed" as "not active" - unless you changed things on the "Load Case Options" tab. This is because you typically don't want these results.

OK here it is what I think is the problem:

When I run ''Start run'' I get NOTE 68E sayng: There are 2 HANGERS in this job and ALL DESIGN DATA for each hanger location has ALREADY BEEN SPECIFIED. There will be NO hanger design passes for this job.

But I did not specify any DESIGN DATA for hangers!!! Everything in hangers sheet is blank (just Node, Allowable Load variation and Constant Effort Support Load are filled with default values).I want CAESAR to specify wich hangers are sutible for this case. Why does CAESAR assume I specified hangers? Any Ideas? How do I make CAESAR to run design pass for hangers? What am I missing?

Thanky you!

Regards, Filip

I did it. The problem was that ''Constant Effort Support Load'' field was filled. I do not know why there is some default value in there. But it works now.
