Caesar II in VMware

I wish to know whether Caesar II network license can be supported by VMware since we decided to move our license server in to VMware environment.

You should be able to access the License Manager (and acquire a license) from a VM session with out any problems. I would suggest that you use the "nethasp.ini" file to point to the LM as this will make things easier all around.

And we've did some testing on Caesar II Standalone version on VM session. We have installed the standalone version in a VM session, however, instead of the program detecting the standalone dongle license (Green in color), we found that the Caesar II was detecting the network license server. I'm amaze with Caesar II since we didn't include "nethasp.ini" and "Nhsrv.ini" into the program folder. Any advise?

Check to make sure the local driver is loaded. You can do this from the c2 Main Menu - "\ESL\Check HASP Driver Status". If the driver isn't loaded, the software will never see the local ESL - this explains why it went looking out across the network.

Theoretically, you shouldn't have to use the Nethasp.ini file, but this means you're using "broadcast", which just causes a lot of un-necessary network traffic, and the software has to look for the License Manager. Using the Nethasp.ini file, pointing to the License Manager, saves time and eliminates all the broadcast traffic.

I'm still a bit confuse with the standalone version since I thought standalone version will not went looking out across the network license as we know that the installation is different from network version. I've tested it using normal PC and without the standalone dongle it would not went and get the license accorss the network. But for VM session it will went looking out across the network.

There are not different versions of the software (local versus network). The software is setup so that it looks first for a local ESL, and if that isn't found it looks across the network (assuming there is network). This makes life easier for everyone. All COADE software has been setup this way since 1994.
