Piping Code For Singapore? - 04/12/07 01:05 PM

We're doing a project in Singapore and wondering whether there is a special piping code that would need to be used. The standard code would be B31.3.

hi jim.

first u have to decide the piping is coming under power or process piping. if it is power piping u have to take B31.1 and if it is process side u have to take B31.3.

ex. if the line in connecting boiler and turbine it comes under B31.1 (power)

B31.1 / 3 would be the obvious global codes. I guess that what mul211 is looking for is any specific local codes. I suspect that Singapore, or was it Hong Kong ?? apply the dreaded IGE TD/12 code to gas transmission and supply piping for instance.

Worked on Dupont plant in Singapore a million years ago... built on a man made island...... B31.3 code..... BUT CHECK WITH THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES!

Try to have your project engineers actually do some work and get a copy of "Factories Act (Chapter 104), Section 42)." Basically for all steam piping in Singapore. Some systems will require "local review/approval" and of course a nice report will need to be prepared per their rules.

This is just one requirement I know about. There could be more.
