Elbows and intersections. - 05/21/02 02:38 PM

Thank you for the recent help.

With this same piping scheme there are several intersections where a pipe connects with an elbow. If we add a SIF the program gives an error, and says to modify the config file to allow it to run. Should we modify the config file or is there a better way to model this off-the-wall intersection?

The reason you receive this error is because, in most instances, it is unnecessary to modify the SIF on elbows. The code equations are usually adequate. So if you attempt this, CAESAR II gives you an error.

You can however alter the configuration file to allow "User Defined Bend SIFs". You do this on the [SIF and Stress] tab. Just check the "check box" for "Allow User Bend SIFs".
