Dynamic Module - Water Hammer Spectrum - Code Stress Zero - 11/30/22 01:18 PM

For a Pipeline with Piping Code B31.4 we are using water hammer /Slug Flow (Spectrum) and we are getting this message "Dynamic "code stress" summations can not be performed at this time for "offshore" or PD8010 codes. Code Stresses & alloawble will be set to zero". How we can fix this issue and see the stress values to check my system.

Someone have had this issue before? My model is not an offshore model.

c2 must be modified to be able to determine the "code stress" in a dynamic analysis for pipeline codes. This is because the dynamic code stress is the sum of the static + dynamic stresses. The static "code" stress could be longitudinal, or hoop, or combined. In the static module, c2 reports which stress/allowable ratio is the highest (as the static code stress). At this time, the dynamic module doesn't know which static stress governed, so the static+dynamic sum cannot be computed.

Thanks for your soon Answer,

But I have tried to do the same For Piping Codes to B31.3 and B31.8 and for these codes CAESAR can computate Stress on Dynamic Module. For B31.8 should be similar for B31.4 is a pipeline code too but I get Stress Values.

Please can you clarify this. I appreciate so much your help.

B31.3 only has one equation to compute the Sustained Code stress. Pipeline codes have several equations, and for dynamics you would want to combine like terms for the dynamic codes stress (longitudinal with longitudinal, hoop with hoop and so on). As I said above, CAESAR II isn't tracking which of these values is the static codes stress. The program has to be modified to do this. I suggest you make this request via the new Aha! portal.

Thanks for your answere!!!, B31.8 compute values on Dynamic Module, it dont understand if it is similar to B31.4. Request was done on Aha portal. I hope soon it is available in the new versions.
