Dear Expert,

Please note that the square or rectangular RF plate attachments in tank outer surface. Here the bracket support is taken form square or rectangular attachment to rest main pipe.

Kindly advise how to calculate the value of C1 multiplied by two for WRC 107/537 defines C1 as one-half of the full length of the attachment in the circumferential direction of the vessel. Please provide me example with some picture for easy understand of concept.

In view of above, the vessel or tank shell stresses can be ensured by WRC analysis with considering support loads.

There has been no study performed to the best of my knowledge that would permit converting cylinder/cylinder and cylinder/sphere intersections to permit rectangle/cylinder and rectangle/sphere intersection utilizing the same set of qualifying criteria.

I look forward to seeing future research in the matter, but until then, you're likely going to have to perform FEA to confirm in the absence of alternative data.

Dear Michael Fletcher,

I would like to thank for your response, kindly I request you to add these kind of local stress analysis for attached (square or rectangular) RF pad with channel member selection in vessel/tank will help in future. Also include the trunnion support attachment with pipe arrangement like can type spring analysis.

Here please advise us, for example the rectangle nozzle with RF pad is attached with cylindrical vessel intersection, then how to calculate the C11 & C22 value and for RF pad C11P & C22P value. Kindly show it as a graphical representation for easy understand local stress analysis.

But the C1/C2 values are the (half) lengths of the rectangular attachments. You should be able to pull these off of the drawings.

Dear Richard Ay,

I am really very thank you for your reply and agreed your point. My issue, it is existing vessel/tank and unreachable area, also there is no data available at present condition. Existing tank, gas outlet piping support is taken from tank shell (Bracket support) and some crack has been found on tank shell, where the gas line pipe support is taken from shell.

I have done detailed pipe stress analysis with considering all possible operating conditions and arrived the loads at this pipe support location. These loads forwarded to civil for new bracket support design and civil provided reaction loads, where the RF pad is attached to tank shell.

Kindly advise me, As per CAESAR II WRC107 analysis, will be able to check the tank local stress for RF pad attachment with considering the civil reaction loads.

Also please find the attached crack photocopy for your ready reference.
