NEMA SM 23 Limit 2 - 10/12/22 09:15 AM

Hi guys,
one more time I kindly ask for help to the Stress community.

As per object, I face a problem with NEMA SM 23 Allowable loads limit.

As per my experience, when the Vendor specify that the allowable considered are 1.85 times NEMA, this means that right member in both equations at para 8.4.6.1 (limit 1) and 8.4.6.2 (limit 2) a & b, can be multiplied by 1.85 .

Now I'm finding that a Vendor ensure a factor of 1.85 only for equation 8.4.6.1 and 8.4.6.2a , and factor 1 for equation 8.4.6.2b, this due to the fact that this last equation is relative to "rollover" verification.

Where is the truth?

Thanks

You need to check the requisition. What vendor committed to provide.
This is why also this part is important. Vendor give you an offer that give some advantage to him. If your company does not comment, this is what you will receive. Vendor will tell you that this is the maximum he can offer to guaranty the machine performance. Not very true, but he will ask for money for extra check.
