Buried piping- Basic Soil modeler

Dear Dave/ Richard,

I have query regarding input parameters required in Basic Soil modeler (Underground Piping modelling).


Query: Why "Thermal Expansion Coefficient and Temperature change" required in Basic Soil Modeler section of UG module?

We have already defined the same while modelling it in main file (Before buried modelling - Ambient and design/ operating temperatures in main input file).

The parameters you question above are used by the Soil Modeler to determine the virtual anchor length and the "remeshing" of the pipe elements. Reading the temperature values from the elements would be problematic:

- for large models this would be inefficient (and slow)
- which of the 9 possible temperatures should be used
