CAESAR model navigation suggestion

CAESAR model navigation suggestion - 02/08/22 02:54 PM

Presently we have 4 buttons that switch the active element. I'd like to suggest 3 more.

1. Back arrow with bar - first element - jump to start of file.
2. Back arrow - previous element.
3. Forward arrow - next element.
4. Forward arrow with bar - last element - jump to end of file.

5. Attribute property - a button that brings up a list of attributes to be used for the command described next.

6. Double back arrow / double forward arrow - next attribute - based on the settings toggled in the attribute property window, it jumps to the next attribute that's specified in 5.

Attributes you could consider jumping to:
o Mechanical property changes... od, wt, insulation, corrosion, etc.
o Restraint
o Node increment greater than that specified in the settings (the default is 10)
o Line number
o Geometry discontinuity

Zoom to element navigation - this toggle button works like "Zoom to Node if Found," but explicitly for when changing the active element through the model navigation buttons.

Goal - reduce the amount of time necessary to understand the organization of a CAESAR file from someone else so that I can make changes to it.

Thoughts?

Michael,

Thank you for these ideas. I'll see they get into the backlog of suggested improvements.
