B31.4 Buried Pipeline - Huge Stresses and Displacements - 10/15/20 02:39 AM

Hi,

I have a C2 model for a 6" buried pipeline. Even the sustained case W+P1 is giving very very large over stress and displacements in the region of thousands of percentages overstress and kilometers in displacement which don't make any sense at all. Can any one help? Has anyone experienced this before? Is it a bug with the software? I just completed the B31.8 pipeline next to it without any problems.

Found the problem. A bug in the fluid density field. It's showing kg/cu.m instead of kg/cu.cm.

Well, you now know how the pipe will react if you try to fill it with Earth-sized white dwarf star matter. smile

I generally recommend inputting it into CAESAR as a function of specific gravity. e.g. "1 SG" will change the input to match water.

Thank you. That was how I found out. The tool tip still shows the wrong unit though.

The unit displayed in the tooltip is obtained from the active units file (set in the Configuration). Please verify that.
