Coefficient of thermal expansion units - 09/11/20 07:26 AM

When editing the material database I discovered through a casual comment in this forum that the unit for coefficient of thermal expansion is micro inches/in-F but I could not find it documented anywhere.

Where is this little tidbit of information given in the documentation?

I hope i understood your question rightly.

Refer the relevent code for linear and Mean thermal expansion coefficient. If you are using 31.3 refer Appendix C, Table C, if using 31.1 refer Appendix B, Table B.

The help text does show that the expansion coefficient should be entered without the 10-6 magnitude. See: https://hexagonppm.fluidtopics.net/reader/j_68npCa80puEI5uHxvmCA/msgsUJcBEho9rQ1Et9mVqQ

Richard, yes that's what I was asking. Thanks.
