Calculation of HOOP Stresses in B31.4 - 01/09/20 01:28 AM
I am doing stress analysis of a small pipeline in CAESAR II 2018, the calculation of hoop stress has a little difference than CAESAR II 2014 values. I am working on B31.4 after a long time. Though I know there are many changes in B31.4 after 2006 edition, but basic formula of hoop stress is same in both 2006 & post 2006 editions.
Same circuit is fail in new CAESAR II and pass in old software whereas both have allowable Hoop 0.9Sy but different calculated value of hoop stress. Similarly bending stress calculated value is also different in both versions of CAESAR II.
