Applying slug forces on elbow

Applying slug forces on elbow - 05/13/19 08:42 AM

Hello,

I am carrying out a static analysis where we are applying slug forces. A lot of the pipework is skewed (not on x or z axis) and therefore I am rotating the model to get it on the axis when applying the forces at the elbow.

Is there a simpler way of doing this using Caesar?

Thanks

If you know the magnitude of the force, you could just use the piping cosine values to determine the angle and calculate the appropriate FX/FY/FZ forces.

It may be easier in the fact that you don't have to rotate the model, but involves more front end work...

To access the direction cosines, click on the ">>" symbol on the border on the dimensions region in the input editor.
