Wave in Caesar II - 04/02/19 09:10 AM

Hi esteemed experts,
Shall I active "Wave" at the node where riser starts to be submerged (i.e. at mean sea level) or at the node where the wave crest touches the riser?
My doubt arised when I read "Free surface elevation" in "Load case editor / Wave loads".
Thanks in advance.
Best regards

You want define "wave" at the point of submergence.

Thanks Mr Ay.
Why in "Static load case / Wave loads" is there "Free surface elevation"?

Is it to define tidal?

Thanks.

Or better:

Can I define mean sea level in "Free surface elevation" and tidal elevation with "Wave" at the point of submergence?

Thanks.

That "free surface" field probably should never have been added to the software. The intent was to allow you to specify the free surface, IF you did not specify global coordinates for your model (therefore your first node would be at 0,0,0).

The problem is that if you have wind in the same job, the free surface MUST be at zero because that is where the wind datum is.

If you need to consider different tides, copy the wave vector and change the water depth.
