Hello Stressers!!!

What is the reason behind multiplying by 4 as shown below.

"Bending STIFFNESSES from EJMA (and from most expansion joint manufacturers) that are used in a finite length expansion joint model should be multiplied by four before being used in any piping software. Bending STIFFNESSES from EJMA (and from most expansion joint manufacturers) that are used in a ZERO length expansion joint model should be used without modification."

If I'm not mistaken, it's like the difference between simple cantilever vs. guided cantilever bending equations. One is delta = WL^3 / (3EI), the other is delta = WL^3 /(12EI).
