spring hanger design and stress results - 01/23/19 11:47 AM

Dear all,

Our company is currently working in a spray system piping for a nuclear power plant using CAESAR version 2018.

We came to the point of choosing spring supports for this line and we found out that when using different catalogues to let CAESAR choose them the stress results are identical.

Spring constants vary slightly at some locations and up to 50% in other points this is why we were expecting to see some differences in stress.

Any idea why could this be happening?

Thanks in advance.

You can have a passing design at a large range of spring factors and cold load settings. However, when you ask CAESAR to make selections based on parameters you specified, a slightly different decision at node XYZ can have a butterfly effect on decisions made elsewhere.

For what load case were the stress results different?
