Using another Words Processors - 12/10/01 11:01 PM

Some PC (Windows Me, XP, or older like 98/200) equipments come with WordPro, Lotus Smartsuite or Sun's Star Office preinstalled. Is there any way to set CAESAR II to send
the output reports to those Word Processors?

At the present time all of our engineering products are capable of sending output reports to only MS WORD. This is the first request we have encountered for supporting other types of Word Processors. I can't make any promises on this one, since this is the first request and there have been no discussions on this subject.

You can save your Caesar report as a text file - File/Save As - saves the report with a .OUT extension. Then open the text file in your word processor program to edit. smile

That works well. When you first try to open the .out file by double-clicking in the explorer, you get a box prompting you for what program to use to open the file, since .out isn't registered to anything.

Whatever word processor you choose, you'll want to make sure you have checked the box "Always use this program to open this file". That force Windows to assign .out files to the word processor you choose for the future. You can also fill in the text box at the upper portion of the window which will show up in the type field in an explorer list (As happens now with CAESAR_II_Input for ._A files).
