ASME B31.4 2006 and Subsequent Versions - 03/15/18 09:08 AM

Hello:
I am running into an issue with a client who is requesting that the stress calcs be in compliance with the 2006 version of ASME B31.4. The reason behind this is that 49 CFR 195 only references the 2006 version of B31.4. I used C2 2017 to run the calcs which utilizes the 2016 version of B31.4.

My question is, if stress calculations comply with subsequent versions of B31.4 does that ensure that the stress calculations are in compliance with the 2006 version?

No. There were major changes to B31.4 after the 2006 edition. You will need CAESAR II 2016 (v.8.00) to run B31.4 2006.

I would like to use the newer versions of C2. Are they thinking of adding an option that would allow which version of B31.4 the user would like C2 to use?

We are contemplating how to allow the software to support multiple code editions. The issue isn't so much the computations, but the material database and how to ensure the proper edition-material data relationship is maintained.
