DNV SL calculation

DNV SL calculation - 01/08/18 09:25 PM

Hello,

CII reference guide is saying "SL = Max. Longitudinal Stress" for DNV code.

#1. How can I understand this statement?

#2. Is SL calculated by using B31.1?

c2 implements DNV 1996. You can find the code equations in the Quick Reference Guide.

Reference guide is saying SL = Max. Longitudinal Stress without specify any formula.

My concern is how to calculate SL? By using B31.1?

Quick Reference Guide Specifies:

SL = Max. Longitudinal Stress

Then the next equation shows what SL is:

SL = SLP + Fax / Am ± Sb

I can see now but in Quick Ref Guide of CII 2018 since what I read is Quick Ref Guide in CII 2017.

Regarding the statement "SL = Max. Longitudinal Stress", I undertand as below:

SL = Max (SLP + Fax/Am + Sb ; SLP + Fax/Am - Sb)

Can you confirm?
