WRC 107 Loads Input

WRC 107 Loads Input - 10/20/17 11:12 AM

Hello,

I discovered the following note in the Caesar User's Guide regarding WRC 107. It's on page 808 if anyone wants to look at it in context:

"The software plots one set of loads at a time and only that set can have values. For example, to calculate Expansion Loads, values for Sustained Loads and Occasional Loads must be cleared."

Does this note still apply to the 2017 version of Caesar?

When looking at the WRC 107 results, sustained, expansion and occasional loads/stresses are tabulated per WRC 107, and then combined per Section VIII load combinations (debatable, but let's not get into this). If I were to blank out 2/3 loads, we would have to tabulate Section VIII load combinations manually.

Could someone please clarify this note?

Thanks!

You are correct, the WRC module only plots the Sustained loads. However, the computations do consider all loads defined (SUS, EXP, OCC).

Please file an SR on Smart Support requesting the WRC plotting be improved to permit load selection.

Thanks Richard.

If the WRC module only plots sustained loads, it doesn't really make sense that secondary stresses (Q) are calculated for expansion.

When inputting expansion loads, they are tabulated under Q.

It might be better to remove Q from the module and include expansion loads with primary loads.

Or am I not understanding what the WRC Module is doing exactly?
