USER material Thermal Bowing expansion coefficients - 06/26/17 07:44 AM

Hi,
I get the following warning:
"Material ID on element 10 to 20
Thermal bowing expansion coefficients for USER defined materials are not available, 0.0 assumed"

How or where do I specify the thermal bowing expansion coefficients?

It's in the special execution parameters.

Environment>Special Execution Parameters.

But unless you're actually trying to specify thermal bowing, I would just ignore the message.

Thanks for the response. Do you put the expansion value in the "Bowing Temperature" input box ?

Unfortunately that field (Thermal Bowing deltaT) is expecting a temperature value, not an expansion coefficient. This situation (thermal bowing with a user-defined material) is one we didn't think of.

If you have the data for this material, you can add it to the material database, then you can avoid the "user-defined material" business. The benefit is that you can then reuse this material in other models and you can apply thermal bowing.
