Error Checker - Error 45E - 10/18/06 07:48 AM

G'day all,
Need help (again) Keep on receiving an error 45 when running the error checker. An example is say for node 20-30 the message text shows "Node 20 already exists at the BEND NEAR POINT on element 20 to 30. Do not try to respecify. When I do look at the input for this elbow, I do not see anything different. This seems to appear for all cases where a rigid is followed by a 90 degree elbow.

When you define a bend, CAESAR II looks at the incoming tangent length and makes a decision:

a) If the length bigger than the bend radius, then two nodes are added - one at the midpoint and one at the zero degree point.

b) If the length is less than or equal to the radius, only the midpoint node is added.

So, if case (a) above applied, CAESAR II adds two nodes on the bend auxiliary dialog. Now, if you increase the bend radius, or shorten the incoming tangent length, there may not be enough room for the node at zero degrees - it may be on top of the FROM node. In this instance, the Error Checker throws Error 45.

The fix is to go delete the node (and the angle) at zero degrees for this bend.

Just did that before.. but not sure if it was the correct approach thanks heaps for confirming it! Also noticed Richard that a tiny section of pipe is sometimes added from the bend end to the next pipe. What I did with this is I deleted it and extended the pipe length to cover the gap. Is this ok too? Is there a way to fix this when importing from PCF?
