Large bore GRE piping - 12/08/16 03:44 PM
I am currently working on a DN 1400 GRE above ground piping system.
I have done several GRE projects in the past none of which were this large though.
I just wonder to know if there is any consideration/ caution I may have to assume when doing analysis in this current task.
Thanks in advance
I recommend you seek guidance from the piping manufacturer. All of them have their own pipe stress group in house who knows their product better than this forum can.
Beyond that, I can offer you inquire that if you have thin-wall considerations (D/t -> 100), that you ask how they address the tendency of ovalization of the pipe at supports and bends, and how to incorporate it into a pipe stress analysis.
Mind if I ask what the system is being used for?

Thanks Michael, since the project is just in the feed phase there is no certain vendor. I will try to contact the vendors from the past projects though.
It is a sea water line by the way.

Michael advice is correct. Take help of ANY vendor in case if there is no specific vendor for the job.
