How to combine two different CAESAR models - 10/15/06 11:18 PM

Hi evrybody,

Is there any way, how I can combine two separate CAESAR models as one. I have already modelled them as separate model. Since these two systems are now connected by one by pass line and needs to analysed as one system.

From CAESAR II Piping Input Use following this

Click on Enviorment/Include Piping Input files

Then include one model into another.

Try to keep one node number common.

Suppose in Model 1, you want to attach other system at Node 300 then Use same Node number in another model at start.

It will help in combining both models properly.

Hi Arun

Just a follow on from the previous reply.

Make sure that the one node point that is common to both models has the same node number, but make sure that all the other node numbers in the two models are unique or the model will become a nightmare when they are joined together as all the nodes with the same node number will try and joind up together.

Hi Thanks all,

It is working.
I changed the node numbers for one system using block operation at one shot. Then I kept one common node for both the system. Then followed the above peocedure for combining.

I experience, when using the "Include Piping Input Files"-function, that the added piping elements cannot be modified. The Input sheet goes "grey" when selecting these segments. I guess it should be possible to alter these imported elements? Im running 6.10.02.0200 btw.

Habo, Go back to your "Include Piping Files" window and update the line replacing N with Y for the question "ReadNow?". This is just like changing from "link" to "embed".

lf you temporarily don't like a "Yes" for "ReadNow", you will have to go back to the original model for being included and modify the inputs of the added parts. And then go back to the main model, re-run and get the results.
