Saving files in Structural Steel Modeler

Saving files in Structural Steel Modeler - 09/12/16 03:50 PM

I'm trying to teach myself the Structural Steel modeler and I have walked through a couple of the examples in the user manual. Only problem I'm having is saving the files. I have saved example 2 as a .c2s file, but I cannot open it. It seems to be a bit more cumbersome with regards to saving files and analyzing them. Any words of wisdom on this would be appreciated.

Also is it true that the latest steel code it references is AISC 1989? Is there a way to get a more updated code?

Thanks,
Lisa K.

The structural input file has an extension of ".STR". When you switch jobs, or close c2 completely, all files associated with the job a zipped up into an archive (.c 2 s in the case of structural jobs, .c 2 in the case of piping jobs). The archive is expanded the next time c2 is started and any of the modules are activated.

The last AISC structural data base that we added to the software is indeed the 1989 edition. That is the latest we have at this time.

Is the structural steel modeler capable of running any code checks for the steel?

No, the AISC code check is performed after the analysis. That code check utility can be found on the "Analysis" ribbon.
