Exclude elements from stress calculation

Exclude elements from stress calculation - 06/09/16 04:01 AM

Hi all,

I want to exclude some elements from stress calculation (equipment) and for do this I put a material (4) LOW CHROME MOLY without allowables.
This is the problem: Caesar put an Sy=206843.000 and I don't know where it come from and then check stresss using allowables that I don't know where they come from.
Is a Caesar problem or I have missed something?

Thanks

It would help if you tell us what version of CAESAR II you are using, the piping code you are applying, and the load case type (e.g., EXP, SUS).

Sorry,

I'm using Caesar II 2014 SP3 (Ver. 7.00.03.0100 Build 150704) and I'm applying B31.3 Code.
The load cases in which I want to exclude the equipment for stress verification are all cases (SUS, HYD, EXP).

I just ran a B31.3 model on the same version of C2 as you. Low Chrome Moly (LCM) has no allowable stress and no yield stress. All my stress reports show zero allowable.
My guess is that your material database now has the allowable limits you wish to ignore. You can go into the material database editor and "delete" an entry -- you will not delete anything -- but by requesting "delete", the program will show all materials that have been added to your database. Is LCM shown? If so, that's where the data is coming from.
I must ask... Is this material (LCM) used elsewhere in the model? If not, go ahead and type in zero for all the stress limits when you first specify LCM, that should remove the stress checks.

Hi Dave,

thank you very much for your help now it works!

I followed your indication and delete all new LCM material models.
I'll put again LCM and find again an yeld stress. So I override all values and put 0.0 and now works fine.

Thank you again.
