Tank - Nozzle reinforcement types - 03/17/16 09:35 AM

Dear all,

In tank nozzles, how “Reinforcement on shell” & ”Reinforcement in Nozzle neck only” are defined as per API 650.

In other words what is the difference in construction.

Please someone clarify.

Thanks

Reinforcement on the nozzle assumes the nozzle has sufficient metal area so that no pad is required. Reinforcing on the shell assumes there is a pad whose thickness is equal to the shell thickness. This selection determines what normalized stiffness curves from App P are used.
