Query regarding pump discharge line first support. - 11/20/15 02:24 AM

Hello experts,

I am having one query regarding pump discharge line that whether the first support for pump discharge line must be adjustable one?
Usually I think it is mandatory for pump suction for alignment purpose.

Please provide your views on above.

thanks

In my opinion you are essentially correct, in that it is usually necessary to have an adjustable support local to a pump discharge. However it is not mandatory in any Code to my knowledge.

In my understanding, if the pump is side-suction & side discharge, both suction lines and discharge lines shall have adjustable supports for alignment.

If the pump is side suction & top discharge, the discharge lines might not need adjustable supports.

Sometimes PTFE plates are needed to lower friction coefficient, in order to make the calculated pump nozzle loads satisfy the allowable values.
