dummy leg design - 08/10/06 07:54 AM

hi all....

at straight pipe, node 10 to 15 then to 20 with 12inch pipe. i wanted to put a short vertical pipe 8inch welded to the 12inch pipe at node 15 as a dummy. how should i input into caesar? is it just do this way: 100 to 15 with 200mm then retraint at node 100 is +Y?
another thing is a dummy leg is welded at the elbow, let say node 40 to 50(bend) then to 60. if i design a dummy as a resting support, should i input as this: 200 to 49 with 200mm then restraint at node 100 is +Y, am i correct?
if yes, why at the error checking still shown about this warning of pipe interception problem?

thx for the reply.

Yes this is the quick way to model a dummy leg. There are a number of examples of this sort of thing in the CAESAR II Applications Guide. You should review this section for ideas and details.

Yes.

Because you have three pipes joined at the same node, and you didn't specify a "tee" (which is correct, you don't have a tee here). So the Error Checker is giving you a Warning. "Warnings" are OK, as long as you agree with them.
