what is formula for OPE Code stress of B31.1? - 08/07/06 01:31 AM

Which formula is used for OPE Code stress of B31.1 in CAESARII:
S = Slp + Fax/A + Sb
or
Sl = Slp + 0.75 i Ma / Z
?

The manual say the first is used; but from the result,it seems that the latter formula is right.
Anyone can give me the right answer?

Read the B31.1 code, instead of taking ill advised short cuts

There is no OPE code stress in B31.1. Caesar calculates an OPE stress, but that is informational only and there is no code stress for this. You can see this in Caesar because all your OPE allowables will be zero and a statement of NO CODE STRESS CHECK PROCESSED will appear above the stress summary in the results. The formula used to calculate the operating stress is your first one.
