Hello,all
I have a question about structure displacement.
example:
A pipeline on the piperack, estimated values of horizontal deflections are base on piperack height H.(i.e 2mm\m).
my question is if all supports consider the structure displacement(or only guide or stop supports need to consider).

Best regards

if the pipe is not attached to the pipe rack steel but simply slides across the steel it will not be fully engaged by the steel however at guides, limit stops, hangers, anchors etc, where the line is physically connected to the steel it will be loaded accordingly.

As for 2mm/m well how much slop is in your constrcution?

Thank you for your response.
the pipe rack is on the jetty.becase of wind and wave,so the structure displacement is big, about 100mm.
my opinion is if the elevation of pipe routing is same, the displacement can ignore.otherwise should be added.
Best regards.

Unless there are any acceleration issues (I doubt it) then you need only consider relative displacements of boundaries (restraints) in your system.
