DNV allowable stresssl - 06/21/14 06:41 AM

Hello?
why caesar II does not automatically calculate the allowable stress calculation when using the DNV code?
Can someone give me the formula for this constraint?
thank you

Did you specify the allowable stress information in the input for the material you're using?

Re: DNV allowable stresssl - 06/26/14 04:11 AM

Hello Mr Richard,
I use the API5L grade B:
Sy=241.15MPa
Rm=413.4 MPa
calculation code:DNV
if i shose a material and a code, CAESAR II can't calculate automaticaly the SH1 and UTS1
for SH1 if i put F1 i have never suggestion to calculate this value for DNV code
and if i put F1 for UTS1 caesar II mensione:
"DNV - This is the material ultimate tensile strength at temperature".
normally there is Rm but the unit for this parameter isn't applicable
Also Nu,Ns and N aren't calculated automatically and if i shose F1 i can't identified wich DNV code is adreessed to use Table C1, table C2 and table C4 for this coeficient?

You have to define those parameters on the "Allowable Stress" dialog. c2 implements DNV 1996.

Re: DNV allowable stresssl - 06/27/14 03:28 AM

but there are a large code for DNV:
DNV-RP-D101
DNV-RP-C205
DNV-OS-C101
.
.
.
.
wich code from those is applicable to define alloable tress?

DNV 1996 - Rules for Submarine Pipeline Systems. This should be D101, but I don't have the Code with me at this time.

Re: DNV allowable stresssl - 06/30/14 05:34 AM

hello,
after research in maney DNV code we make the conclusion as the folowing:
- Sh1=au*Sy/vm*vsc=0.96*241.15/(1.15*1.14)=176.585 MPa
where:
au:material strengh factor=0.96
vm:material resistance factor=1.15
vsc:safety class resistance factor=1.14
- UTS1=Rm=413.4MPa
- Nu=0.8
- Ns=0.8
- N=0.8
- Sy=241.15 MPa material yield strength
am I in the good Street?
can someone comment this approch?
