Analysis for Lifting of piping segment

Kidnly help me in this regards. I need to do analysis of pipes for lifting the pipes already commissioned for placing Neoprene pad beneath them. I need help in following regards.
1. What will be the basis for evaluation of stresses?
2. Whether I need to check the expansion stresses?
3. How to simulate the said sceario in CII?

Code for design is B31.4 and we are planning to lift the segments around 50 m at a time for the continuos pipe run of 3-4 km.

I would model a displacement at the lift points and set the conditions for those that will exist at the time of the lift. Preferably cold and empty.
