Nozzle Stiffness for reinforced nozzles

Nozzle Stiffness for reinforced nozzles - 06/02/06 06:21 AM

Is there any contribution of reinforcement on WRC-107/API-650 nozzle stiffness?

Yes.

For WRC-297, the pad thickness is added to the vessel shell thickness, before determining the coefficients or interpolating from the figures.

In API-650, one set of curves assumes no reinforcement, the other set of curves assumes a pad equal in thickness to the shell thickness.

Thanks,Richard Ay, for your reply.

It seems right to be conservative by adding reinf pad thickness to vessel thickness for arriving at WRC-297 nozzle stiffness - a bit higher stiffness than in reality or more realistic FEA simulation, may result.
