SOFTWARE PROBLEM ? - 05/18/06 11:48 PM

Recently I'v been getting this problem. The operating system is Windows XP; CAESAR vern 4.30

When I am working on a file (checking the piping in 3d plot view) suddenly an error dialog box pops up with the following message :

CAESAR II application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Please tell microsoft about this problem.

On checking the error details, they are as follows :
Error signature : prepipe.exe
Appver : 4.1.0.0
ModName : hoops500.dll
ModVer : 500.34.0.0
offset : 0002f017

The instruction at 0x5f401351 referenced memory at 0x00000004. The memory could not be read.

----------------------------------------------
I have tried reinstalling the program to no avail.

Will someone kindly throw some light on the problem.

TIA

This message is a general crash message - it doesn't reveal any specifics. However, the module that crashed was "hoops500.dll", which is the 3rd party graphics library that we use. The "500" means "Version 5.00" of that library.

Since CAESAR II Version 4.30 was released, the HOOPS library has been upgraded, through versions 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. CAESAR II Version 5.00 uses HOOPS version 12.

I can't tell what the software doesn't like about your model that would cause the crash. Version 4.30 was released in March of 2001, over 5 years ago. So you're missing 5 years worth of improvements and corrections.

You'll be a lot better off if you upgrade.
