WRC-107_ NOZZLE THICKNESS & CORROSION ALLOWANCE??? - 07/25/13 09:48 PM

Dear All,

Can I know what is the use of inputting Nozzle thickness and corrosion allowance in WRC 107 module,

WRC -107 module calculates and checks, the stresses on shell junction and edge of the pad(if pad given) only, then where these nozzle thickness and corrosion allowance values used in local stress WRC-107 calculations.

Dear Richard,
can u please clear this doubt..

The nozzle thickness & diameter are used to determine the location, for the stresses "at the edge of the pad".

Dear Richard,

Yes NOZZLE DIAMETER is required,

But what is the role of NOZZLE THICKNESS to determine the location "at the edge of the pad".

Please Clarify..

If you indicate that the "diameter basis" is "ID", then you need the nozzle thickness also.

Richard,

Id+2(thk-CA) = OD ,it calculates like this?

The nozzle OD is the "nozzle ID + 2.0 * thickness". Corrosion reduces the internal thickness, which does not affect this calculation.

Thank u, Richard
Then why, Corrosion allowance option is there in Wrc_107. For any other requirement..
