Study and learn the engineering behind stress analysis.

Caesar II is an excellent product but it will not teach you or do the engineering for you. If you make the big mistake of thinking that making a Caesar input is stress analysis, you will end up engineering a disaster.

Re: Stress Analysis - 06/06/13 12:33 AM

dear Moverz, i know that there is a modelling part and analysis part(say static and dynamic analyses). now my qestion is what is actual method to learn or sequence or procedure to learn stress analysis of piping system.
first try in caesar or read about them in books or to learn the concepts and practice in caesar together?????????

Re: Stress Analysis - 06/06/13 03:51 AM

You need to talk to a senior stress engineer in your company.

Forget Caesar for the time being.

Learn about mathematics, strength of materials and materials science, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics and stress analysis of three dimensional bodies.

Understand how these critically important subjects relate to stress analysis of piping systems. Then you might be safe to use Caesar II.

gow,

While you will do best to pick the brains of your local senior engineers, there are some resources available now that can help you progress. Two books to take a look at:

Pipe Stress Engineering by Peng http://amzn.com/079180285X

Process Piping by Becht http://amzn.com/0791802868

Neither book is cheap, but the offer a lot of good info to get you moving in the right direction.

I think a better way is to start with pipe support design, to understand the restraining fuction of every support type. It will be a good basis for piping stress analysis.
