Version 5 ESL

Version 5 ESL - 03/06/06 05:02 PM

Hopefully this question hasn't already been asked, I have searched through previous postings and it doesn't appear to have been.

We have finally got the latest version of C2 installed on our machines. (Yipee).

We keep older versions of C2 on a couple of machines in the office such that we can open and run old models if we have queries etc from clients.

With the installation of Version 5, we have the new USB ESL, and a new version of 4.5 to install such that we can run version 4.5 but with the new ESL.

What about previous versions of C2? ie if I want to open and run a model in version 4.2 will version 4.2 work on the new ESL?

My understanding from our IT department is that the old ESL will self destruct after a period of time, once we have the new ESL authorised, hence we will no longer be able to use the old ESL.

Thanks

We rebuilt Version 4.50 to work with the new ESL, because that was the current version at the time this new technology was incorporated. We can't rebuild previous versions; 3rd party libraries are updated, tools and compilers are updated, etc. This is why we don't update or maintain older versions - we just can't. So no, anything prior to the "4.50 Final Build" will not be accessable with the new HL ESL.

Since any current version of CAESAR II will read in the input from any previous version, it is really not necessary to maintain all the older versions. However, for anyone in a "bind", this issue will be dealt with on a case by case basis via e-mail.

Thanks Richard, Sure, we understand that.

Just checking so we know where we stand regarding old files.
