Structure file duplication - 01/21/13 02:27 PM

Hi all,

I have a model where I am using a structural file to modelize pipe supports. I have around 26 supports all along the pipe and I would like to know if I can duplicate the supports in the piping modeler? That is to say: model 1 support, and duplicate it int he pipe model? I have also the option to make a structural model with 26 supports, but when time comes to change the distance between supports, this becomes not easy to do since i have to modify the distance in the piping modeler AND in the structural modeler as well.

Thanks for your help,

In the structural modeler, use the EDIM method to define the supports. Each support will have a start node and a stop node. Since the individual supports are not connected, they will all plot on top of each other in the structural modeler. However, when you include the file into a piping model, and connect the supports to the pipe with a CNODE, they will be positioned approporately. There is no need to modify the distance between the supports, they will move if you change the pipe lengths.

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your answer.

I have not access to the Edim command, it's shadowed in the "commads" menu...

Ok I've found why it's shadowed. I've created a new model with the right definition. Thanks.
