5.3 to 5.1 - 01/02/13 09:08 AM

I created a C2 file in 5.3 but the client is running 5.1, is there any way I can convert the file to be able to be opened in 5.1?

Threeouts,

I don't think that there is a way to do it. That is how Caesr II forces the users to upgrade their versions to make money. I even tried to save the 5.3 file in a neutral file format, hoping that the 5.1 would read it. But no luck. It is much easier and faster to re-build the Caesar model using 5.1.

If you do come across a way to do it, please share it. Thanks.

No - the reason input files are not downward compatible is because of the new data added, that the older version is unaware of. We feel it is better not to do the conversion, than to provide a partial input file (dumping the new data).

Well, as user I have different feelings.
For me it is better to have a partial input file (truncated 5.3 version)in order to run it in 5.1. I don't think the version improvements would sustain missing back compatibility. At least Caesar competitors can provide such compatibility and they improve the software, too.

"Caesar II forces the users to upgrade their versions to make money"- as frustrated user, this is also my feeling.

Thank's for the responses. My file is rather large, but yeah, sounds like they will need to rebuild it in 5.1 or upgrade!! No bid deal.

The only thing is that if you have an old file and a new version of Caesar, you will have to rerun the file with the new version. So you will have to keep all the Caesar version just in case you have to review/modify an old file.
