How to model Hangers Type 53 in CII ? - 11/22/12 05:27 PM

Hi... I have a Piping system, that have 2 pipes resting at one Hanger Type 53 (See MSSSP-58. Trapeze Hanger)... My question is: How to model this type of hanger in Caesar II, because have 2 pipes at one hanger....
mmmm Put a one Hanger in each pipe and to use the max spring value ? or I must to sum Loads and apply the springs relation ? How select it in the catalogs...?

Thank you for any help

Model the trapeze as a set of rigid elements, and put the hanger in the middle of the rigids.

Are the two lines you are supporting in the same model file?

Hello guys,

This post may be quite old but I hope someone could answer my follow-up question.

Would it still be a good practice to place these 2 pipes on the same trapeze with spring hanger, even though they have different vertical movements? And can we still expect them both to sit on the trapeze during operation even though one of them have much higher vertical movement?

Also, by modeling the trapeze as a rigid element, would it also be correct to connect this rigid element to the +y restraints of the two pipes via cnode?

Than you all on advance.
