Modal Analysis and Eigensolver Array Limits - 02/15/06 04:07 PM

I'm working on a system with a hi-speed pump (roughly 12000rpm). Frequencies of interest are 1x-rpm, vane pass, and 2x-vane pass. The max frequency I would like to look at is ~3500Hz. Modal analysis repeatedly cuts itself short with the msg "The Eigensolver array size has been exceeded. This value may be increased on the Dynamic Control Parameter Form." This is apparently not the Control Parameter tab under Dynamic Analyis (Modal selected) since no matter what number I put in the Max. no. of Eigenvalues or Frequency cutoff - the solution does not list more than 101 frequencies (the last at about 1665Hz)...which gets me past vane pass but not to 2x-vane pass. What "Form" is the error msg trying to point me to?

Thanks.

The maximum number of eigenvalues is set on the "Advanced" tab. You want to change the value of "Frequency Array Spaces".

If you set this too high, and you encounter an abort, then go to the "Configuration Module" and allocate more memory to CAESAR II. Don't allocate more than half of your physical RAM, or you'll slow down the machine to a point where it won't be usable.

Set your "Frequency Cut Off" to 3500, and the "Number of eigenvalues" to extract to 0.
