Batch Run - 02/14/06 03:11 PM

I am using 5.0
When I do a batch run on the LAN it comes up with an error. We have never had this problem before and it only happens sometimes.
When I work of my harddrive no problem but when I slide it to the server or try to save it to the server it wont run a Batch File.
This is an intermittent problem and doesnt happen all the time.
This has not been a problem in the past with the old version of CaesarII
Thank You

What is the error you get? Is it always the same error at the same place in the analysis?

One thing to watch when running in a network directory is to make sure that no one else can run there at the same time. If this is not possible, then you must use the Configuration Option to set your USER ID, so that the communication files are not stepped on by another user.

The error message is "The memory cannot be written" We have only 1 key for Caesar. No one else can be running Caesar at the same time.

Sounds like you don't have access (rights, permission) to write to the target directory on the network drive.

If I create a new analysis it seems to work ok. If I "save as" and rerun under new name it will not run the batch run. If I complete the job on my harddrive and then slide the files to the server it will not run the batch files. It seems like a file is not getting created or is there a hidden file I am not aware of.

There are no hidden or otherwise secret files.

When you did the "SaveAs", did you only provide a new name, or did you try to change the "file type" using the "Drop List" at the bottom. (You can't change the "file type", so stay away from this "Drop List" - it will disappear in the first build.)

What was the new name you specified?

OK- That was the Key -Thanks Richard!
What was happening was when I did a save as it came up with "*._A" I thought the suffix was important so I would save as "test._A"
After your reply I tried saving to "test" and just wiping the suffix out. Now it seems to be working ok.
Thank You Jim

Ok, that is great. This won't be a problem after the first build, there won't be a "Drop List" here.
