Allowable Stress for Bendis in Sustained Load Case - 09/19/12 05:08 AM

Hi,

Could someone help me to understand why in the stress values output for elements the allowable stress value decreases along (the internal nodes of) a bend for a sustained stress analysis?

The stress allowable value according to B31.3 for sustained stress is Sh and It should only vary with temperature.

I've just checked one of my calcs and sustained allowable stress at 3 points around a bend does not vary, always equal to the defined value.

Do you have an example of your problem ?

by chance did you specify W for circumferential welds? That would change your allowables.
