V4.30 and Win98

V4.30 and Win98 - 05/23/01 03:57 PM

Here's a crazy one for ya.

We've got a user with a Dell notebook running Windows 98 and C2 v4.30.

When he tried to use the normal graphics on the input side, the program draws the window, adds menus, then locks up. A Ctrl-alt-delete is needed to kill the window.

The volume 3d graphics work fine, and the graphics on the output side work fine as well - which is most confusing, since its the same graphics as the input side.

I've tried reinstalling the program, updating video drivers, etc. But so far, no luck.

Any ideas on things I might try? Are there any known issues with C2 and Windows 98?

Thanks,

If you have the latest video driver and still have this problem, you might try changing the color depth in your video settings from 16- (or 24- or 32-)bit color to 256 colors.

Ok, let's see, most of the time
I have had the problem solved checking
several things, about them:
- Version Windows 98, I recommend 2nd. release. This is not the main because there
are CAESAR users with Windows 95 lastest releases.
- Take care about the Windows drivers needed
by Windows to interact with the Graphics Card
in your laptop. Perhaps you have to check this.
- Please see if this is just happening with
CAESAR II, this would determine if the problem is just has to do between "Winbugs",
CAESAR II or your Graphics card in your laptop.
- How many RAM do you have?
- How many Video RAM (VRAM) is configured?

I use normally a Toshiba 2100CDS, AMD K6-2,
96 MBRAM, CAESAR II 4.30 works fine on it.

Any time :), regards,

Vicente

Try reducing the "color depth" found in "Control Panel\Display\Settings". The settings of "256" and "16 bit" have worked in similar situations.
