The value you're trying to output is too large for teh allowed format. Try the "Custom Report" option, where you can set the format.

1) Custom Reports have their own toolbar in the output processor. Just mouse-over the buttons and read the tool tips - you'll find it. I suggest you review this concept in the documentation, so you have a head start on how to use it.

2) This is an OPE case, so be default the B31.1/B31.3 codes don't consider this a stress compliance case. You want this case for maximum loads and deflections, not stresses. For stresses, you want the effects of wind add to the Sustained load case. Like this:

1) W+T1+P1 (OPE)
2) W+T1+P1+WIND1 (OPE)
3) W+P1 (SUS)
4) L1-L3 (EXP)
5) L2-L1 (OCC) {construction case to obtain the effects of wind}
6) L5 + L3 (OCC) {this is your stress compliance case}

Re: Problem in out put (help) - 03/18/12 06:48 AM

Wind loads can be specified either with basic wind speed or the actual wind force. If the basic wind speed is specified, American society of civil engineers or uniform building code can be used to derive the wind force.
Wind force is applied at the outer surface of the pipe including insulation. The area to be applied is the projection area perpendicular to the wind direction in consideration. Normally, only two mutually perpendicular horizontal directions are considered.

The vertical wind compound is considered only if it is stipulated in the design specification. The wind effect on the part of piping that is either inside an enclosed building or shielded by a proper object can be ignored. The stress produced from wind load is generally classified as an occasional stress
B 31.3 ONLY stipulate that the sum of longitudinal stress due to pressure, weight , and other sustained loading , SL, and of the stress produced by occasional loads , such as wind or earthquake , may reach as much as 1.33 times the basics allowable stress at design temperature.
No code in this world tells do these loads case.

Hope you understood.

May be your boss not guiding properly.

kumar,
u r right but i want to know the same . I am talking about the wind+operating for nozzle load checking this case means wind+ope is mention in B31.3 or any ref.
awaiting your reply.
