Hello All,

I hope someone can shed some light on how to determine Design Life of an equipment, say a header box? Reason being is that on certain occasion Customer has asked to verify that the equipment is designed for 25 year.
Does PVElite / CodeCalc specify a safety factor into the analysis?

There is no set criteria for design life.
When the corrosion allowance is specified by process people, they must have consider the corrosion occuring per yr (mills per year).
This is what I personally feel.

Any process guy can through some light on it but this forum is only for mechanical guys using coade product (PVElite)

Like you said, normally the corrosion allowance is already specified. So I guess for a requirement of 25 year design life, that would be approximately 3.175mm corrosion allowance (assuming 0.127mm CA per year).

Is Sec.VIII Div.1 or 2 specifies any standard regarding life of the equipment if it is not in cyclic service.

does it means if corrosion Allowance is zero & there is no cyclic service, equipment will operate for infinite life.

Pl. throw some light on this if anybody knows regarding this?
