Dear Sir,

In WRC 297 analysis in codecalc, there is option to click/unclick the box which briefly states :

" does the trunnion provided makes a opening into the shell"

How does codecalc analyse the problem if there is trunnion provided for lifting purposes which doesnt make opening into the shell?

(what is the reference of this treatment?)

Kindly help.
Regards

Dear Friend,

In help file of codecal, clarification is given if you donot clik on "Opening in shell" as below.

"Check this box if the attachment makes a hole in the vessel. Example of a hole being cut would be a nozzle. On the other hand, a trunion is a case where no hole is cut in the shell. The program applies a stress concentration factor if hole is cut in the shell."

If you donot clik the "Holes in shell", PV Elite will not apply stress correction factor.

Please correct if wrong.
