Hello all, i am a new designer. I need a help!!!

Client is asking to include Pressure stress intensity factor in WRC 297. As in Compress it includes as per PVP vol 399. similar using ASME div.2. But my problem is that i can't put the value for Pressure SIF in WRC297 in PV-elite or Codecalc. There is only option for stress concentration factor. Is there any option?

Please reply and guide me....

You can select the option to include stress indices under "load" tab.

Thank you for the reply Kunal... But to my knowledge stress indices is used to analyze effect of the opening as well as the peak stress due to presence of the welding. This is very conservative, this gives Pm+Pl+Q+F.

My problem is to include PL (local primary) stress due to internal pressure at the opening (client requirement) as per appendix 1-10 or as compress does using PVP 399.

Is there any other option to include PL(local primary) stress?

Regards
Susan

Stress Indices are used to evaluate peak stresses, which are used for fatigue evaluation. If the equipment is not in cyclic service, then stress indices neednot be included.
If you refer to WRC output, you can have Pm and Pm+Pl and Pm+PL+Q+F. Pm is the stress due to internal pressure, and pm+Pl gives the local membrane stress.

For large nozzles, you can select the option "use appendix 1-10 instead of ug-37" under "load cases" menu in PvElite. This will give you local primary membrane stresses as per 1-10. Refer attached screen shot.
